July is National Desexing Month; and to celebrate, The Yellow Door - Rescue and Rehoming are offering 13 FREE female dog desexing appointments.
Thanks to our invaluable relationship with the community minded team at South Valley Vet Clinic, we are grateful to be able to reduce the financial pressures of a number of members of the Geelong community struggling with meeting this important element of responsible pet ownership. A generous discount from the SVVC team has ensured that a $6,500 donation made to us during National Adoption Month by the PETstock Foundation can provide surgical sterilisation of 13 female dogs at risk of unplanned pregnancy.
With pounds, shelters and rescue organisations feeling the crushing pressure of unprecedented numbers of homeless dogs and unwanted litters, this program will successfully reduce the incidence of unplanned litters, the puppies of which often enter the cycle and perpetuate the pattern.
Each dog desexed has the ability to impact local animal welfare as well as making a tangible change to the mental wellbeing of the owners who will no longer fear the financial drain of unplanned litters, nor the detriment to the health of their beloved pet that comes from being entire.
The Yellow Door - Rescue and Rehoming prioritises the health of local animals as well as the well-being of our community members.
We are always seeking to engage local organisations and business entities that see value in our mission and would like to join us in changing the way we navigate the complexities of animal welfare within the Greater Geelong Region.
